Description

Joan Baez stayed at the Metropole during the war and recorded the sounds of bombs dropping all around, inspiring the song "Where Are You Now, My Son?", which in turn inspired this painting by Baez herself. We took a tour of the hotel's bomb shelters which were fascinating but we didn't get any photos.
